Singer Jara releases Valentine's bouquet in French

One year ago Jara made her debut – alongside Raymond van het Groenewoud – with ‘Hallelujah, ik hou zo van jou’. The single was popular and was played on Radio 2 for several months. The rest of her EP was often heard on Radio 2 The Rat Pack.

Now, one year later, she switched the Dutch language for the French. When asked why, she answers: “It’s the language of love, French is… sexy”.

Rendezvous on February 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th. Four days in a row she’ll release a new single, in honor of Valentine’s Day. You can listen to these love songs on multiple channels including Spotify:

Bio

Jara (dʒara) is a singer-pianist who performs jazz classics with a surprisingly personal and playful touch – both on stage and through her singles.

Journey

She studied cabaret at Studio Herman Teirlinck in Antwerp. Through theater, teaching theater at the Bruges Conservatory, existentialism, and traveling the world, Jara eventually found her way to jazz.

Going jazz

Her passion for the genre was sparked by pianist Bas Bulteel and bassist Joshua Dellaert. Their mentorship has had a profound influence on her.

First steps

In 2022 and 2023, she crisscrossed Flanders, Belgium, performing in jazz cafés and clubs.

Studio

Jara recorded two EPs with producer Patrick Hamilton of The Globe Recording Studios, which were released around Valentine’s Day in 2024 and 2025. For these projects, she collaborated with double bassist Bart De Nolf, drummer Toni Vitacolonna, and Raymond van het Groenewoud. The singles were well received on Radio 1, Radio 2, The Rat Pack, and VBRO.

9 + 1 = 10

She is currently devoting herself to her album 9 + 1 = 10 with the same playfulness and passion that characterize her music, releasing 10 singles one by one. This time, in addition to vocals and piano, she is handling all the additional instrumentation as well as the album’s production.

For the album’s 7th single – ‘Habille-toi pour le Ritz’ – she also created a video clip.
